Why would I order my yarn from Britain when I’m in Canada. The main reason, of course is top quality wools. The other many reasons can be seen on one of the best websites I go to regularly - breathtaking colour, succinct info and, lately, marvellously written, funny and quirky emails and blogs from the company’s new HQ in Wiltshire. Got a missive today from ‘Sam’ about entanglement and using expressions like ‘Bazinga,’ ‘Whammo’ and ‘like a plate of spaghetti arrabiata’. Makes one want to run to the chesterfield and turn out a bunny hug or a toque. Nothing dull about these yarn spinners. Colinette and myself (her son) welcome all knitters, textile creators, and lovers of fabulously coloured fibres. We wish to invite you on an exploration of our scrumptious hand dyed yarns. Colinette Yarns has been hand dyed yarn specialists for nearly 40 years now and just like the very first days on our kitchen stove, we still follow my father’s book of spells and incantations. He was a true artist who craved colour. Each skein of yarn from wool to cotton is dyed in small pasta pots, a nod to our times in Italy. I could tell you so much and will do, but for now sit back and enjoy our world of stunning colours. Created by us artists for artists… yes that is you.

I only buy Colinette now as I love the range.At present I am knitting mohair which is the finest quality I have found anywhere.Add to this the packaging which is a pleasure to receive and opening the box, to find tissue wrapped gorgeous coloured wool is a good start to the day!

Really good couple of mohair 2-ply lace 25 g balls (Parisienne), I am making some really soft socks with it, added to an old Jittterbug 4-ply. It is looking nice, tbh!!!

I love love love your products. The wool came well packaged each in its own little box enveloped in beautifully wrapped tissue paper. As I opened each box I was amazed by the assortment of wool. It was like birthday and Christmas all at once!
I am a slow knitter and so I am trying to up a gear so I can use them in my swoncho!
Customer service is fine but I feel the website could have a tweak as I found myself scrolling a lot back up to the top. So something as easy as a button to take you back up would help.

colinette's Journey
The road that led Colinette to play with hand painted yarn
and fibre started out many years ago. There was something very tactile about
super chunky wool that embraced the jewel- like colours. I called this slub yarn
‘Point Five’ and it became Colinette Yarns’ signature dish.
Other fibres followed. Silks, textured chenille, soft mohair
and finer sock wool to name but a few. All waiting to be hand dyed.
Let’s go back to the early 1970s and meet the two creators.
Colinette a textile artist and her artist painter partner Geoff. The setting is
southern Italy where the beautiful sunlight starts the magic….
